The division assists the management by preparing various plans for the Department, maintaining the relationship between the District Secretary and the Human Resource Development Officers serving at the divisional level, the Development Officers and the Head Office, obtaining the physical and financial progress from such officers, analyzing, preparing progress reports and referring them to the relevant parties.

Functions of the Planning and Progress Monitoring Unit

  • Prepare a Strategic Plan with the participation of all the divisions of the department
  • Prepare the Annual Action Plan with the participation of the divisions according to the Strategic Plan of the department and provide targets to the officers attached to the district and divisional secretariats accordingly.
  • Prepare project proposals and obtain approval by forwarding them to the National Planning Department.
  • Prepare the monthly progress report of the department
  • Prepare the Annual Performance Report and forward to table at the Parliament
  • Appraise the officers attached to the offices at the district and divisional level, annually.
  • Conduct the following meetings;
    • Meeting of the district coordinating officers
    • By-annual and annual progress review meetings
    • District monthly progress review meeting
    • Monthly progress review meeting chaired by the Secretary of the Ministry
    • Monthly Progress meeting chaired by the Hon. Minister of the relevant ministry
    • Audit Management Committee Meeting – Ministry
  • Maintain a data system on the physical and financial progress of all the officers of the department attached to the district and divisional secretariats.
